The Turlock Police and Fire departments are currently taking registrations for all local National Night Out celebrations.
Turlock Police and Turlock Fire officials will be visiting each area that registers their party with the Turlock Police Department.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Aug. 4, residents in neighborhoods throughout Turlock and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outdoors with their neighbors.
The Turlock Fire Department will also be hosting an Open House at Station #1 located at 540 Marshall St. from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Anyone interested in participating in National Night Out 2009, is asked to contact Crime Prevention Officer Taryn Weatherford at 668-5550 ext. 6741.
