Turlock Police detectives continue to seek information on the shooting of an 18-year-old man on a Turlock street Thursday afternoon.

Multiple gunshots were fired at the 18-year-old, with one striking him in the left arm. The victim is expected to make a full recovery from his injury.

The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of N. Olive Avenue.

The victim and a friend were walking down the street when a vehicle approached and several gunshots rang out, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

The police department received multiple calls reporting the shooting, with at least one caller reporting a person had been shot.

The first officers who arrived at the scene did not immediately find any gunshot victim, but a trail of blood led them to a nearby home, where they found the 18-year-old. He was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Investigators served a search warrant for the home where the victim was found, Lewis said. At the home investigators found a handgun and other stolen property. The gun is not believed to be associated with the shooting.

Another occupant, Vanessa Dominguez, 34, was cited for possession of stolen property. The victim was known to the occupants of the home, but their relationship is unknown.

The shooting is believed to be gang-related, Lewis said.

Multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene.

At this time there is no information about the vehicle or how many occupants were inside of it at the time of the shooting.

The police department asks that if anyone noticed a vehicle leaving the area around the time of the shooting, especially one speeding away, to contact Detective James Brewer at 664-7331.
