Police search for armed robber

A lone gunman robbed a Turlock grocery store and escaped on a bicycle into a nearby neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, the Turlock Police Department reported.

No injuries were reported in Wednesday’s robbery and the suspect remains at large.

The robbery occurred just before 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Cost Less Market at 255 W. Main Street. The suspect pulled out a handgun and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the store, said Turlock Police Lt. Nino Amirfar.

The suspect was last seen riding a bike into a nearby neighborhood. Police were unable to locate him after searching the neighborhood, Amirfar said.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 20s. He stands about 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 250 pounds, according to the witness statements. He has a mustache and a goatee that stops at the base of his chin.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Detective Tim Redd at 664-7325. Callers can also leave an anonymous tip at Crime Stoppers at 521-4636. Callers may be eligible for a cash reward.
