A Delhi man was arrested on multiple charges after fleeing police in a stolen car.
The pursuit came to an end with a crash, but the suspect, Tommy Kong, 20, still tried to make a get away on foot, Turlock Police Lt. Ron Reid said.
A traffic stop on Kong was initiated around 9 a.m. Monday in the area of South Beech and Columbia streets for going 75 mph in a residential area, Reid said.
Instead of stopping, Kong sped off. The pursuit wound through neighborhoods, even after a tire on the 1995 Acura Integra blew out. It came to an end at Soderquist Park when Kong crashed the car into a curb, causing both airbags to deploy and disabling the car.
He was dazed, but still made an effort to get out and run. He was quickly apprehended.
The Acura Kong was driving turned out to be a stolen vehicle out of Merced.
He was charged with felony pursuit, attempted auto theft, possession of stolen property and was held on a felony warrant.
