A vehicle stop for a red light violation resulted in the arrest of two men after officers found several pounds of marijuana in the vehicle, along with a loaded handgun.

Omar Lopez, 21, and Jeffrey Larsen, 30, were arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession with the intent to sell, and being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm.

Around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday a Turlock police officer on patrol saw a vehicle run a red light at Del’s Lane and Hawkeye Avenue.

Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis said the firearm was in plain sight in the car. A subsequent search revealed the men also had several pounds of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia that was indicative of sales.
