A man is facing a charge of assault and battery that police say arose from an incident of road rage.

The incident was reported around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Olive Avenue and Golden State Boulevard, according to the Turlock Police Department.

Gary May, 30, and the male victim got into a verbal dispute over a traffic incident. According to the police report, May got so enraged at the man that he pulled out a can of pepper spray and used it on the man.

Police were called to the scene and May was issued a citation for assault and battery.
