emergency

The quiet of the Turlock countryside was disrupted Monday night by an eruption of gunfire, leaving one man critically injured.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the 700 block of S. Daubenberger Road in an unincorporated area of Turlock at 8:55 p.m. Monday for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Upon arrival, law enforcement, paramedics and emergency fire personnel located a Hispanic male adult in his mid-twenties suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Responders administered first aid and asked for an air ambulance to respond to expedite the patient’s transport to a local area hospital.

The victim underwent surgery and is believed he will survive his injuries, according to the sheriff’s department.

Detectives with the sheriff’s department were sent to the scene to investigate the attempted homicide. Detectives continue to process the crime scene, interview witnesses and gather additional evidence.

No suspect or motive information are available at this time.
