Shoplifting case escalates to robbery charges

Two men attempting to shoplift items from a Turlock grocery store are now facing strong arm robbery charges after they fought with store employees.

According to the Turlock Police Department, Justin Edwards, 22, and Anthony Edwards, 25, were inside Sam’s Food City at 965 Lander Ave. around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday. The two were seen concealing items in a satchel and were stopped by employees when they tried to leave the grocery store.

The two men fought with the employees, while officers were en route, according to the police department.

Both men were booked into Stanislaus County Jail on robbery charges and remain in custody in lieu of $75,000 bail each.
