Thieves trickery comes to no avail

An attempt to lure police officers away from a house they had surrounded to a nonexistent crime scene proved fruitless Thursday and ended with the arrests of several people and the recovery of stolen property.
The incident began around 4:40 a.m. Thursday in the 3600 block of La Mancha. A witness saw several subjects break into a vehicle and flee in a car.
The police were contacted and while patrolling the neighborhood, they spotted the suspect’s vehicle.
The driver made a turn onto Villanova Drive and the three suspects jumped out of the car and took off running.
The officers were able to track the suspects to an address on Fosberg Road, but no one at the residence would answer the door, according to the police report.
As the officers waited for a response from the residents, they received a report of a stabbing at Geer Road and Golden State Boulevard and the call was originating from inside the Fosberg residence.
The ploy didn’t work and the police made entry into the home where they found a large group of people hiding inside.
Police found property tied to some area burglaries and several suspects were taken into custody, though their names were not released.
The investigation is ongoing.
