A teen is facing robbery charges after threatening a store employee with harm while stealing food and toilet paper.

The incident was reported around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 2000 block of E. Canal Drive.

The store employee saw the suspect, later identified as Luis Torres, 18, of Turlock, allegedly shoplifting food and toilet paper and then leave the store.

The employee followed Torres out of the store and then made threats to the employee, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Parmley.

Torres continued to walk away from the store, but then suddenly dropped the items and ran to a nearby park.

Torres was located and detained by police officers and identified as the suspect. He was arrested on suspicion of strong-armed robbery.
