Turlock crash between big rig and Toyota kills one
emergency

A 25-year-old man was killed in a traffic collision in Turlock when his vehicle slammed into the back of a big rig truck.

The name of the deceased had not been released as of yet, pending next of kin notification. He was a resident of Atwater.

The collision happened around 1 a.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes of Highway 99, near Golf Road in Turlock.

The Atwater man was driving a Toyota Corolla southbound on Highway 99 at an undetermined but high rate of speed.

For an unknown reason, the driver allowed his vehicle to strike the back of a 2019 Freightliner that was traveling ahead of him in the southbound lane.

The impact caused major damage to the vehicle and fatal injuries for the driver. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Freightliner, Brian N. Marie Moil, 23, of Lemoore, was not injured in the crash.

It's unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
