Turlock man gunned down by family member in Brentwood

A 43-year-old Turlock man was shot and killed during a family dispute in the Bay Area, the Brentwood Police Department reported on Monday.

The name of the deceased had not been released as of Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting was reported to the Brentwood Police Department shortly before 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived at the apartment complex at 160 Sycamore Avenue, they located the 43-year-old Turlock man outside with at least one gunshot wound. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The suspect responsible for the shooting was determined to be a family member and was detained on-scene without incident. The police department identified the suspect as Israel Resendiz, 18, of Brentwood.

The firearm used during the shooting has been recovered and the motive has yet to be determined.

After the suspect was taken into custody, officers on scene secured the area and contacted witnesses to the incident and detectives arrived shortly after.

“At this time, we do not have any evidence to indicate there are any additional suspects related to the crime,” the police department stated on a Facebook post.

The investigation is ongoing.
