Two Turlock men were stabbed in a fight outside of a Fourth Street bar early Sunday, reported Ceres Police Department.

Police learned about the stabbing after medical personnel at Emanuel Medical Center called them at 1:12 a.m. to report that two victims of a stabbing turned up and were headed to surgery. A Ceres officer interviewed the victims at the hospital and learned that the fight occurred outside of Sweet Lu’s Saloon at 3014 Fourth Street in downtown Ceres.

Ceres Police Lt. Brent Smith said a 22-year-old Turlock man had sustained eight stab wounds in the chest and abdomen and suffered from a punctured lung. A 23-year-old Turlock man suffered from two stab wounds. The wounds were serious but not life threatening, he said.

The men apparently got involved in a dispute inside the bar and got into a fight outside where the stabbing took place.

Police were unable to determine exactly where the stabbing occurred since heavy rains had washed away the evidence, said Lt. Smith.

Ceres Police detectives are following up on the case and urge anyone with information on the case to give them a call at 538-5727.
