A 60-year-old woman was attacked and tied up Monday by two teenagers who then stole her car, according to the Turlock Police Department.
The victim was treated Monday at a local hospital for bruises, abrasions, and a broken rib.
The two suspects, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy both remain at large. They were last seen in the victim’s vehicle, a 2003 black Chevrolet Malibu, with tinted back and side windows. The vehicle’s license plate number is 5CWX069.
The suspects names were not released because of their ages.
The victim was working at the Excell Center at 1145 Tuolumne Rd. late Monday night, when she was attacked by the two teens. The suspects grabbed the woman, tied her up and started beating her about the head and chest, according to Turlock Police Lt. Ron Reid.
The suspects were demanding the key to the facility’s van, but the victim told them she did not have access to i. Since they couldn’t get the van, the suspects made off with the victim’s car instead, Reid said.
The woman was able to make contact with a neighbor and asked them to call 9-1-1.
The two teens are both from Fresno County and were acquainted with each other before they were temporarily placed at the Excell Center, according to the police department.
The homes in Fresno were checked by law enforcement, but neither the suspects nor the stolen car was located.
The two teens are wanted on felony charges of carjacking, battery causing serious bodily injury and false imprisonment.
This is the second carjacking reported at the Excell Center in two months. On April 18, a 17-year-old boy threatened a worker at the Center with a butterknife and forcibly took her car keys. The teen was caught after leading police on a pursuit down Golden State Boulevard that ended when he crashed into a tree.
The Excell Center is a residential treatment and education provider for at-risk boys.
