Third grade students at Medeiros Elementary School made over 30 blankets for Butte Fire victims and gave them to El Dorado County firefighter Jason Snyder on Monday as part of “Fortunate Fridays,” which is a day of the week that they dedicate to a service project.

According to teacher Amanda Wolf, students now plan to make hand warmers for the elderly, write letters to soldiers and sing Christmas carols at an assisted living center for their next “Fortunate Fridays” projects.
