City and community leaders gathered Wednesday morning for the unveiling of the new Singh Walkway sign at the northeast storm basin. The sign is located at the previously unnamed pathway located at the storm basin off Christoffersen Parkway and Zeering Road.

The City Council approved the naming of the walkway in November, after a request from Turlock resident Ram Saini who proposed the renaming as a way to recognize the Indian-American community in Turlock.

Saini requested that the name “Singh” be chosen as it is a popular last and middle name amongst many Sikhs and Indian-Americans around the nation.

The cost of the official City of Turlock sign with the name Singh Walkway came as a donation from Saini and members of the Sikh and Indian-American community.
