For the 42nd year, Turlock residents will speed their way to the finish line in hopes of winning Thanksgiving dinner as contestants in the annual City of Turlock Fun Run Turkey Trot.

The Turkey Trot is held annually at Donnelly Park, and this year,  Turlock’s fastest community members will have the opportunity to win prizes from local businesses such as Raley’s, Safeway, Lulu’s Ice Cream Parlor, Main Street Footers, Foster Farms, Gemperle Farms and Sunnyside Farms.

“It’s an activity which promotes health and wellness in community,” said Turkey Trot chair Mark Crivelli. “But, it has also become a tradition that kicks off the holiday season before Thanksgiving gets here and brings families together.”

The Turkey Trot consists of two races: a one-mile race, which follows the perimeter of Donnelly Park and will begin at 9 a.m., and a two-mile race, or two laps around Donnelly Park, which will begin around 9:20 a.m. and is open to runners age 13 and over.

Those who would like to participate in this year’s Turkey Trot must register on site before the race. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. and is $13 for the one-mile race and $18 for the two-mile race.

Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers of each race and category, and participants are entered into a drawing for any additional prizes leftover.

The Turkey Trot will take place on Nov. 20 at Donnelly Park, located at 600 Pedras Road.
