Hughson woman earns Senior Award

Hughson resident Judy Ledermann was named the 2013 Senior Award Winner for Supervisorial District 2, announced the Stanislaus County Commission on Aging.

Ledermann was nominated for the award for her community service, humanitarianism and  leadership. She is a "good neighbor" who visits folks who are ill or home-bound and generates warmth and caring to all she comes into contact with.

Ledermann is a member of the Samaritan Village Residents Council, a liaison group that brings issues from the residents to management. She is a member of St. Peter's Church in Modesto, where she serves as chair of the Senior Group. She has been a weekly volunteer at Community Hospice and the Hughson Clothes Closet. Ledermann was also a volunteer with the Special Olympics in the Fresno area for 20 years.

Other Senior Award Winners are: Margaret "Peg" Tafoya of Modesto (District 1), Rosemary Musino of Modesto (District 3), Caren Burhans of Modesto (District 4), and Barbara Tosta of Newman (District 5).

The award winners will be recognized for their outstanding work by the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors during its regular meeting on May 21. The meeting is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Chambers, 1010 10th Street Place, Modesto.
