A 33-year-old Denair man was killed Monday night when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in Delhi.

The deceased was identified as David Shriver.

The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. Monday in the area of El Capitan Way, east of Pepper Street.

Shriver was driving a 1999 Triumph westbound on El Capitan Way at an unknown speed.

Ahead of the motorcycle was a 2007 Toyota Tundra pickup being driven by Maritza Murillo, 20, of Atwater.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Murillo had slowed the Tundra down to five to 10 mph and was starting a left turn onto Pepper Street when Shriver attempted to pass on the left.

The front of the motorcycle struck the left rear of the Tundra and the impact ejected Shriver off of the bike, the CHP reported.

Shriver was taken to Emanuel Medical Center with severe injuries, which ultimately proved fatal.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing and at this time it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
