Stanislaus County’s Commission on Aging is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Senior Awards.
Citizens of Stanislaus County, age 60 or older, may be nominated for their outstanding volunteer work in any of the following areas: community service, dedication/commitment, leadership, volunteer work, being a good neighbor, and role model in the community.
Five recipients, one from each Supervisorial District, will be recognized by the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors in May, during the recognition of Older Americans Month. Neil “Skip” Young was named one of Stanislaus County’s Outstanding Senior Citizens for District 2, which includes Turlock. Young, a Marine Corps veteran, was honored for his more than 10,000 volunteer hours to the Turlock Police Department’s Volunteer in Police Services program. Young spent many of those hours patrolling the streets of Turlock providing visibility and extra patrol to the city. He also provided traffic control for parades, the annual county fair, and crime scenes.
Nomination forms for the 2025 awards can be obtained by calling Stanislaus County Area Agency on Aging, 209-525-4613, or emailing Claudia Gomez at gomezcl@stancounty.com. The deadline to return nomination forms is March 7.
