A 12-year-old boy was struck and killed by a train Tuesday night in Turlock, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The name of the 12-year-old boy has not been released at this time.

The sheriff’s department was summoned to the 2000 block of Paulson Road around 9 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of an accident involving a train and a pedestrian.

Sheriff spokesman Sgt. Anthony Bejaran said the train had already stopped and a search was being conducted by fire department personnel when deputies arrived.

The body of the 12-year-old was found under the train. He had sustained multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Bejaran said.

“An investigation into the child’s death is being conducted and at this time there does not appear to be any signs of negligence or foul play,” Bejaran said.
