Barbara Nilsen was born to Loy and Lessie Todd in Tulsa, OK on 06/15/1937. She moved to the Turlock area at an early age. She attended local schools. In 1952 she married Charles Ray Taylor and they traveled the world with the U.S. Air Force. In 1953 Sharon Faye Taylor was born in Florida in 1955, Mary Jane was born and died at Fort Lewis, Washington. In 1956 Judy Taylor was born at Clark AFB in the Philippines. While at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas she met LBJ Ladybird, Jackie Kennedy, August Busch, and John F. Kennedy before he was killed.

She traveled to Germany, Alaska, Hawaii, or wherever she wanted to go to see daughter Sharon in the Army.

Barbara worked at Brandel and Emanuel Hospital for 35 years. She never knew a stranger. She had a love for life. Barbara was a Soldier in Christ for the Salvation Army.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (James) Sadowski of Alaska, Judy Wisdom & Tony Lopes of Turlock. Sisters, Sue Borges and Neva Sorenson. Grandchildren, Laurie Freitas (Steve Griffin), Jeanette (Josh) Baker, Dawn Poma & Kevin Pickett, Ricky Wisdom, Amber Damas, Joseph Poma. Great grandchildren, Samantha (Jimmy) DeVito, Philip Frietas, Breanna Frietas, Mariah Baker, Joshua Baker, Mason Baker, Tyler Poma, Elizabeth Poma, Jeremiah & Aubrey Wisdom, Kalab Pamas.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Jane, her brothers, Finis Todd, Richard Todd, Luther Todd, and Arthur Todd and her sister, Virginia Inman.

Visitation will be held from noon to 7pm on Friday, July 29th at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock. A funeral will be held on Saturday, July 30th at 11am also at Turlock Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
