Bert Silva passed away on July 26 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 23, 1931 in Hughson to Antonio and Mary Silva. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He was a truck driver for several companies for 48 years. He served on the reserves of the Oakdale Police Dept., was a member of the Modesto Veterans of Turlock, Turlock Sportsman’s Club, California Striped Bass Association, American Truck Historical Society of Central Coast, International Teamsters Retiree Dept., and served as president of the Portuguese St. Anthony’s Celebration of Pismo Beach.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Silva of Ceres; sons, Gilbert of Modesto, Roy of Hughson and Jack of El Sobranto; daughter, Cathy Bauer of Riverbank; step-daughter, Tami Drayer of Stockton; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and sisters, Loraine Pires of Sunnyvale and Belle LaCross of Riverbank.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Silva; parents, Antonio and Mary Silva;  brothers, Joseph and Tony Silva; and step-son, John Drayer.
Recitation of the Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1 at Allen Mortuary. Committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 2 at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
