Berwyn Lee Moren, surrounded by family, passed away unexpectedly at Emanuel Medical Center on October 10th, 2016 in Turlock, Ca at the age of 85.

Lee is survived by his wife, Shirley Miriam Moren; brother, Joe Moren (wife: Maxine); daughter, Denise Praklet (husband: David); grandchildren, Thad Moren (Fe), Crystal Stapleton (Sean), Tracy Praklet, Trisha Christison (Dan), Marci Nedialkov (Tommy) & David Praklet II (Jamie); great-grandchildren: Cerah Ellen, Jarod Berwyn, & Deric Gregory Moren; Cadence Lee & Colin Michael Stapleton; Seth & Riley Collmer; Zak, Owen & Connor Nedialkov; Emma & Reade Christison and Chase Praklet. He is preceded in death by his sons Douglas Lavere & Gregory Lee; and sister Marg Davis.

Lee was born on January 31st, 1931 in Johnson, Nebraska to Joseph & Blanche Moren. He met Miriam (Hammond) on a Greyhound bus and swept her off her feet and married her on August 17, 1952, resulting in 64 years of wedded bliss. Lee served in the Air Force as a Staff Sergeant, working as a mechanic on the KC97 and B50 aircraft. After moving to Livingston, Ca, Lee began a teaching career at Livingston High School that spanned over three decades.  During his time at LHS, Mr. Moren taught English and public speaking, and served as the drama coach and directed many plays and musicals, including productions of Fiddler on the Roof, Bye Bye Birdie, The Sound of Music, Oklahoma, South Pacific and many more.

Lee was affectionately referred to as “Papa” by his great-grandchildren. He will be most remembered for his poems and letters lovingly written to his family for special holidays and family gatherings. Lee was passionate about farming, nurturing his almonds with the care that he tended to his family. He was a proud member of Blue Diamond Growers and the Livingston Farmers Association.  He was an active and dedicated member of The United Methodist Church of Livingston .

A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Fri., Oct. 21, at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock CA, with a reception to follow at United Methodist Church, 11695 West Olive Ave., Livingston, CA. Pastor Hayes of LMC will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lee’s life.
