A funeral service will be held for Caroline De Salles, 90, at 9:30 a.m. July 9 at Turlock Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd. in Turlock. Interment will follow the service.
Caroline was born in Livingston, Calif. to Frank and Helen Alvernaz.  She graduated from Livingston High School in 1938, and married Manuel De Salles in 1940. They resided in Turlock for many years where Manuel owned and operated the Economy Meat Market. They raised their four children in Turlock before moving to Sonora, Calif. in 1978. Caroline enjoyed the nature scenery, flowers, wild animals and birds that surrounded her home there. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Twain Harte. Her husband died in 1988, and Caroline remained in her mountain home until 2004, when she moved to Casa de Modesto.
Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one sister.  She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Wolf of St. Charles, Mo.; sons, Jim (Terri) of Rancho Murieta, Bob/Diesel (Melody) of Sonora, and Dan (Marla) of Henderson, Nev.; daughter, Carole De Salles of Denair; grandchildren, Michele (Leonard) Jalli, Kristen (Jeff) Miller, April De Salles, and Matthew De Salles; and great-grandchildren, Eric and Gregory Jalli, Jennifer Miller, and Josh and Julia De Salles.
Caroline will always be remembered and cherished for her wonderful sense of humor and the unconditional love she had for all her family and friends.
