Chiyoji “Chester” Takahashi, 86, of Livingston passed away at Hy-Lond Convalescent Hospital in Merced on Tuesday. Chester was born in 1924 to Seiichiro and Sei Takahashi in Livingston. He graduated from Livingston High School. Chester was interned at the Merced Assembly Center and Amache, Colo. Relocation Center. He served in the Army during WW II from 1944 to 1947. During the war, he served in Italy and France in the Japanese/American 442 Infantry. He was a farmer for over 65 years. H was a member of the Japanese American Citizens League and the Livingston Farmers Association.

Chester is survived by his brother, Thomas Takahashi of Modesto; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Kazuo Takahashi and Akira Takahashi.
