Clinton Hayes, 90, of Turlock, CA, passed away suddenly on December 7, 2015. He was affectionately known as “Pops” to those who loved him. Clinton married Gloria McDonald on April 18, 1943 in Reno, Nevada. They had three children: Gayle, Dennis and Richard. Clinton married Mary Toste in 1988 and had stepdaughter Helen Roehlk. Clinton was very active in his community by being a part of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Elks Lodge, and the Valley Tractor Pullers Association. He was a charter member of the Turlock Rural Fire Dept. and also volunteered at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and All Saints Catholic Church. Clinton was active in the ARC in Modesto for many years for son Denny and helped create the Howard Training Center. He was honored with both the Hiram Award and Mason of the Year. He owned and operated the Turlock Trenching company with brother-in-law Jim Mello for many decades. Clinton was proud of his service in the Army during World War II. He loved to travel in his RV and enjoyed tractor pulls, hunting elk, and fishing. He was a loving man who enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Clinton was always ready with a joke and his quick wit to bring a smile to those around him.

Clinton was predeceased by his wife Gloria, wife Mary, and sons Dennis and Richard. He is survived by his daughter Gayle Lindbeck of Denair, stepdaughter Helen Roehlk of Denair, ten grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Clinton’s memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children 2425 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95817 or the Howard Training Center 1424 Stonum Rd, Modesto, CA 95351.

A public viewing will be held Friday, December 18, 2015 from 3:00-7:00 pm at Allen Mortuary with a funeral service on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 10:00 am. His interment will be at Turlock Memorial Park.
