Don Johnson, a brick and block contractor for 40 years in Turlock, passed away on Dec. 23, 2009 at Brandel Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Seattle, Wash. to Carl and Anna Johnson.
He was a veteran of W.W.II and served in Australia and New Guinea. He attended the College of the Pacific in Stockton prior to his service. He was a member of Rotary, the Lions Club, the VFW, the Bricklayer’s Union, the Board of the Little league, SIRS, the Lutheran Church Extension Fund, and served in many leadership positions at Good Shepherd Lutheran church for over 60 years. He recently resided at Samaritan Village assisted living in Hughson and was retired.
He is survived by his children, Kathleen Lindquist (Burt) of Turlock, James Johnson (Cindy) of Elk and Robert Johnson (Sandi) of Concord; grandchildren, Randy Lindquist of Turlock, Lori Wagner (Phil) of Denair, Todd Johnson (Tracie) of Fresno, Brett Johnson of Petaluma, Jill Johnson of Concord, Christopher Johnson of Mendocino and Timothy Johnson of Palm Springs; and four great grandchildren, Taryn, Caden, Peter and Paul.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother, and his wife of 61 years, Marjorie.
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2 at Turlock Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 10 a.m. at Turlock Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow the graveside services at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
