Doris, affectionately known as “GG” to many, was born to Egnar and Elvira Gunnarson in Minnesota and passed away at the age of 98 in Turlock.  She was a member of Crossroads Church for many years where she helped with Awana.  She was very involved in the community volunteering with Memorial Hospitals Foundation, The Salvation Army and the Ladies Auxiliary at Emanuel Hospital.  Doris enjoyed Turlock Little League where she volunteered her time and was recently named Turlock Little League’s Fan of The Year.  She was an avid San Francisco Giants fan.

She is survived by her children Rochelle (David) Genn, Linda (Marion) Ray and Natalie (Stacy) Ray; sister Florence Swanson; four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.  Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband William G. Metzler, Sr.; sons Billy Metzler, Jr. and Melroe Metzler; six siblings; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A celebration of life service will be held at Allen Mortuary on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 1:00p.m.  Private burial will be held at Turlock Memorial Park.  Please share your memories at www.AllenMortuary.com.
