Doris Helen Eller Heisel was born in Roanoke, Virginia to Rev. Henry C. Eller and Effie Naff Eller. Doris entered into eternal rest with her Lord on April 26, 2018.
Doris graduated from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia in 1956. Following graduation she entered Brethren Volunteer Service and was placed in South Modesto. She taught home economics at Walter White Junior High School in Ceres before marrying. Later in life she returned to school to obtain a special education teaching credential.
A homemaker for many years, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, visiting the sick, traveling and spending time with her family. Her faith was an important part of her life. She was a life-long member of the church of the Brethren. She will be remembered for her unconditional love and hospitality.
Doris was preceded in death by parents and brother Galen Eller and survived by her brother Rev. Wendell Eller; loving husband John Heisel; daughters Gail Heisel and Joy (Fred) Schempp. Doris was blessed with six grandchildren and one great grandchild. She and her husband John were about to celebrate their 60th wedding Anniversary in June.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Modesto Church of the Brethren, 2301 Woodland Avenue, Modesto at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 11th, with a reception following.
