Edith Thompson, 95, of Denair, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 1 at home with her family at her side. She was born in Jay, Okla. to Joseph and Pearl Harrington in 1915. She moved to the area in 1943, where she lived and farmed with her husband of 54 years until retirement.
Since 2000, Edith lived with her children. Edith was a loving and caring person. She especially loved children and the elderly.  Edith fostered six children and was a certified nurse’s aide who worked with the elderly for many years. She was a member of Valley Christian Center in Ceres. She was actively involved in Women’s Ministry, taught Sunday school and served on a mission trip to Guiana. 
Edith is survived by her children, Zella Coleman and Maxine Moore, both of Turlock, Florine Sterling and Wilma Bartlett, both of Denair, and Elsa Riddle of Newman; 17 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Thompson; son, Wilburn Thompson; and siblings, Verl Herrington, Floyd Harrington and Myrtle Payton.
A visitation will be held from 12 noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5 at Allen Mortuary.  A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 6 at Turlock Memorial Park. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 6 at Valley Christian Center in Ceres.
