A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Erma Azevedo, 87, of Stevinson at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stevinson. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery. Erma passed away at home with family at her side on Saturday.
She was born in Lemor, Calif. to Manuel and Maria Toste in 1922.
In 1935, her family moved to the Azores, and she married Antonio B. Azevedo in 1941. They moved back to California in 1947, and lived in Stevinson for 56 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in
Stevinson. Erma was also a member of many catholic organizations. She and
her husband traveled to many places with the Merced County Sheriff’s Posse. They also took many cruises. Erma and her husband returned to the Azores many times.
Erma is survived by her children, Mary (Rod) Bucholtz, Gloria (Joe) Homen,
and Tony (Carol) Azevedo; brother, Tony Toste; 11 grandchildren; 20
great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren.
Erma is preceded in death by her husband, Antonio B. Azevedo; daughter, Bertha M. Azevedo; and sister, Maria T Machado.
