Flora M. Elliott
January 1919 June 2009
Elliott-edited
Funeral services for Flora Elliott, 90, of Turlock will be held at 1 p.m. today at Turlock Memorial Park, inside the mausoleum. She passed away at Emanuel Medical Center.
Flora was born in Fellows, Calif. to Robert and Ruth Vandergriff in 1919. Flora moved to Livingston as a young child, where she attended school, and later graduated from Livingston High. Shortly after high school, she moved to Turlock, where she met Glenn Elliott, whom she was married to in 1937. She and Glenn owned and operated Bradly’s Diner from the late 1930s into the early 1940s. In mid 1940, they moved to Santa Cruz where they remained until moving to a ranch in Hughson in 1952. This ranch would be the place that Flora raised and nurtured her children for 20 years. Here she and Glenn also raised chickens, as well as peaches and walnuts. During her time working on the ranch and raising her children, in the 1960s, Flora worked as a secretary for the Turlock Chamber of Commerce.
Flora worked hard to create and build the ranch into what is was, all the while still taking care of her family. Flora enjoyed reading, and sewing, and in her later years, found a love for cooking.
Flora is survived by daughter, Pam (Larry) Rice of Turlock; son, Glenn (Marsha) Elliott, of Idaho; sisters, Roberta Moss of Stockton, Helen Kisling of Turlock and Micki (Blaine) Traube of Stockton; and four grandchildren.
