A memorial service will be held for Fred Silas, 77, at 11 a.m. Aug. 22 at Waterford Community Baptist Church, 328 D St., Waterford. Silas died Aug. 15 of cancer.
Fred was born in England, Ark. in 1931, although he later altered his birth date to 1928 in order to join the armed forces. He served 14 years in the Army and National Guard. He leaves behind family and many friends.
