Beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Gladys Souza Winter, 96, of Turlock passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, September 19, 2016.

A lifelong resident of Turlock, young Gladys grew up on her father’s dairy farm on West Main.  She attended Turlock schools and married Judd Winter and raised a family of five children, many of those years on Cahill Drive, until Judd’s passing in 1986.  

She loved to read, work in her garden and had the most amazing knack for gorgeous azaleas.  Everyone was welcomed warmly into her home and always found her candy, jars filled to the brim with chocolates.  She loved animated toys, owned many, and had many on display at her home to the delight of her many, many grandchildren.

Her wisdom and caring provided a solid rock to rest on for her children and grandchildren spanning many generations.  She will be sorely missed by so many.

Gladys is survived by her children Jerry (Carol) Rogers, Keith Winter, Ron (Colleen) Winter, Linda Muller and Steve (Kathy) Winter; brother Vernon Souza; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Lena Souza; husband Judd Winter; daughter Sandra Harless; sister Vera Mello and grandchildren Harley Winter and Corrine Winter.

Viewing will be held at Allen Mortuary on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 3:00-7:00p.m.  Graveside service will be held at Turlock Memorial Park on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00a.m.  Please share your memories at www.AllenMortuary.com.
