Hal Wahler, 74, of Hilmar, passed away after a short illness at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson on Dec. 24.
He was born in Detroit, Mich. and attended schools in West Branch, Mich. He served in the US Army in Germany from 1953 to 1956. Later he served as a civil service employee for 32 years at the Defense Distribution Region West in Tracy.
Hal married his wife, Leah, in January 1988, and they lived in Hilmar for 17 years. Hal retired in 1993. After retirement, he and Leah enjoyed traveling in their motor home around the USA, Canada and Mexico. He was a member of the United States Power Squadron affiliated with the Stockton Yacht Club, the Stockton Trade Club, Karl Ross Post 0016, the Elks Lodge in Gila Bend, Ariz. and the “Bounders’ United,” Kanga-Roo Chapter.
Hal is survived by his loving wife, Leah; children, Terrie Hinkle of Stockton and Robert (Kathy) Hinkle of Lodi; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
A private inurnment is planned for San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
