Harriet was born in Chicago, IL to Eli and Clara Carlson and passed away at the age of 92 in Turlock.  She settled in California at a young age and graduated from Turlock High School.  At a church youth group she met her husband Edward Backman.  Harriet was very active at the Evangelical Free Church in Turlock for many years.  She worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses and later she and Ed worked together in both farming and construction. She enjoyed camping with Ed in their R.V.

Harriet is survived by her son Dale (Mary Ellen) Backman; grandchildren Sarah (Mike) Curry and James (Kara) Backman; and six great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward Backman and brother Ronald Carlson.
