Henry Reed, 72 of Turlock, died at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock on Oct. 11. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at Redwood Chapel, 847 Woodside Blvd., Redwood City. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at University A.M.E. Zion Church, 3549 Middlefield Rd., Palo Alto. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22 at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Henry was born in Elmore, Ala. He was an owner/operator truck driver for 45 years. He was a member of Steward Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church of Redwood City. He had a passion for mechanics and loved to fish and spend time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bette Reed of Turlock; son, Jeffery Reed and his wife, Cynthia, of Turlock; daughters, Frankie Marie Drake and her husband, Stanley, of Menlo Park, Calif. and Carla Jean Reed of Oakland; brothers, Jimmy Reeves, Andrew Reeves, Alfred Reeves and Kenneth Reeves all of Elmore, Ala. and Nathaniel Reeves of Montgomery, Ala.; sisters, Catherine Zeigler and Julie Young of Elmore, Ala. and Hazel Scott of Montgomery, Ala.; four grandchildren; a bunch of nieces and nephews; and niece, Cathy Zeigler of Oakland.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Willie Reeves, John Earl Reeves and Arthur Reeves.
Services are under the direction of Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Service of Turlock.
