Jacqueline “Jackie” Ruth Smith Sondeno, age 90 of Turlock, passed away on Saturday, at the Hughson Hospice House after a brief illness. Jackie was born in Turlock to the late John and Ruth Soderstrom Smith. She was married to the late David N. Sondeno for 67 years. 

In life, Jackie was blessed with wonderful adventures. While living in Oakdale, she was a bookkeeper for Sondeno Pontiac, three grocery stores and opened JJ’s Unique Boutique and Salon with her daughter, Janice. She loved Jesus and showed her love and dedication in many ways. She was a youth group leader, Christ Ambassadors President and Sunday school teacher. Jackie spread her love around the world. As an Ambassador for Light for the Lost, she was able to tour Japan, Hawaii, Fiji, Sydney, Taiwan, and Calcutta, India. Jackie also enjoyed sharing her gift of hospitality as she hosted foreign exchange students as well as many others that needed her ministry. Jackie celebrated life to the fullest in everything she did. Her theme parties were amazing. Each detail was planned and executed to be enjoyed by all. 

Jackie is survived by her daughter Janice Jones (Joe), her son David Sondeno (Pamela), four granddaughters, a grandson, five great-grandsons, a great-granddaughter, and her brothers Ronald Smith and Roger Smith. She also leaves behind a large extended family. She’s preceded in death by her youngest brother, Robert (Bob) Smith from Nevada. 

A private interment will be held on Friday, January 24th at Turlock Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 25th at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock.
