James Leroy McClure, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at home surrounded by family. James was a lifetime resident of Turlock, CA. He was born on June 16, 1946 to his parents, Joe and Virgie. He attended schools in the area and went on to work as a machinist. On August 14, 1971, he married the love of his life, Carmen McClure, at the Old St. Stanislaus Church in Modesto, CA.

James loved bowling and golf. In his youth, he participated in bowling leagues. His passion in life was golf, and he played up until he could no longer. He loved playing at many golf courses in Monterey. James was the kind of person to always lend a helping hand to others. When he retired, he enjoyed helping his neighbors take care of their lawns. Over the years, he supported the generation of children growing up in the cul-de-sac. Many of them referring to him affectionately as “Papa Jim.” He found great pride and joy in making sure the neighborhood was always well taken care of.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Virgie McClure.

James is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carmen McClure; his daughters, Melissa (Jimbo) Williamson and Monica McClure; his grandchildren, Alexia, Adrian (Jackie), Andrea, and Gianna; his great-grandchild, Marisol; his sister, Kay Gonsalves; as well his nephews and nieces.

Please join the family for a funeral service on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Turlock Funeral Home, in the Main Chapel. Following the service, James will be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park.
