Joseph Aschwanden, 80, of Turlock, passed away on Monday, Nov. 23 at Emanuel Medical Center. Visitation will be at 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 27 at Allen Mortuary, followed by a funeral at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
Joseph was born in Turlock to Frank and Louise Aschwanden in 1929. He  served in the United States Army for six years during the Korean War as a postal specialist. After the service, he drove trucks and retired from Fairbanks Trucking after 30 years. He married Barbara May in 1956. Joseph was a past member of the Turlock VFW. He enjoyed fishing, raising cattle and watching NASCAR and the S.F. Giants.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Barbara Aschwanden; son, Edward Aschwanden of Turlock; granddaughters, Mechelle Aschwanden and Amber Espinola; and brother, Ray Aschwanden of Turlock.
