He was a mechanic for 18 years and attended Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Turlock. He was a member of Skanless Car Club of Modesto and E.C.V. Chapter 58 of Modesto.

He is survived by his parents, Joe and Olga Gomes of Winton; and brothers, David Gomes of Winton and Danny Gomes of Modesto.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Chapel, 286 W. Main St., Turlock. A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m., followed by a Rosary/Vigil  at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, also at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias. A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 19 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 2602 S. Walnut Rd., Turlock. Burial will be at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery.
