Launa was born in Hazard County, Kentucky to James and Cassie Begley and passed away at the age of 80 in Turlock, California.  She was one of eight children who grew up in a modest home in Kentucky.  At the age of twelve, her family moved to Oakland, California.  She graduated from Biola University, where she also met her husband Ted Dixon; together they shared 45 years of marriage until he passed away in 2006. 

Lee taught elementary school for over 30 years, in Stanislaus and Merced counties.  Lee and Ted worked at many churches over the years, where Ted served as a music director.  Lee was a vocalist, taught Sunday and Vacation Bible School, and led various children’s programs at church. 

Lee loved traveling with her family and embarked on several trips across the United States. Lee always studied the maps to find interesting and educational places to visit. 

Lee is survived by her children Tim Dixon, Debbie Spector and Rick Dixon; three of her seven siblings and grandchildren Sherra, Jason, Mitchell, Mark and Zoe.

Funeral services will be held at Allen Mortuary on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 3:00 p.m.  Interment will be held at El Encinal Cemetery in Monterey at a later date.  Please share your memories at www.AllenMortuary.com.
