Luis Augusto Freitas Reis was born May 1940 in Topo, Sao Jorge, Acores.
Luis came to the United States in 1964, and in 1966 became a dairy farmer. In 1979, he moved to Turlock where he raised his family and remained until his death.

He is survived by his family, Margarida S. Reis, Anthony and  Melinda Reis, Melany and Kevin Abernathy, and Melissa and David Alvares; grandchildren, Luke, Matthew, Grace, Madalyn and  Ariana; brothers and sisters, Rui Reis, Guiomar Reis, Tiberio and  Filomena Reis, Joe and Marie Reis, MaryJo and John Fontes, and Greg and  Laura Reis; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will start at noon on Sunday, Feb. 27 with a recitation of the Rosary to follow at 7:30 p.m., both at Allen Mortuary.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 28 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic
Church, with entombment to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
