Marilyn Rose Truesdell, age 99, of Turlock, CA died July 14, 2023 in Oakdale, CA of old age.  Interment at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA.

A native of Ames, Iowa, “Rosebud,” as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was born December 12, 1923 in Ames, daughter of William Hobart Dykes and Jessie Virginia Richter.  She was married December 27, 1942 to Russell Max Truesdell, who predeceased her in 2012.  After his service in WWII, Russ and Rosebud moved to Pueblo, CO, and from there to San Jose, CA in 1955.

Rosebud began working in 1967 at Mervyn’s Department Store on White Road, relocating later to the new building on Story Road.  She was their Boys and Men’s Department Manager, Receiving and Inventory Manager and Assistant Store Manager, retiring in 1988 after 21 years, “loving every minute of it.”  She and Russ retired to Turlock in 1994 where she resided for 28 years.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas S. (Annette) Truesdell, James R. (Kathy) Truesdell and Jack C. (Debra) Truesdell, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
