Melvin Lundell

On Tuesday, January 14, 2020, Melvin Lundell went to his heavenly home.

He was born in Turlock, CA to Daniel and Mabel (Starn) Lundell. He graduated from Hughson High School. He graduated from Modesto Junior College and attended Cal Poly where he majored in Landscaping.

He served in the Army National Guard from 1952 – 1955.

Melvin spent the next 31 years as a loan officer for Wells Fargo Bank in Modesto, CA. Melvin was a banker by day but also enjoyed farming after work and on the weekends. He loved to come home and work in the fields on his tractor. During the summer, he sold peaches roadside.

He was a former member of Beulah Covenant Church (presently Turlock Covenant Church) where he sang in the choir, which caught the eye of the organist, his future bride. On March 11, 1961, he married Esther Madsen. They raised three children, David, Diane and Duane. He was a charter member of Monte Vista Chapel. He served as an elder and usher in the church. He was very faithful about taking his family to church every Sunday morning and at night.

He was a member of the Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club and the Institute of Banking.

He is survived by his wife Esther Lundell, his children David Lundell, Diane (Robert) Priebe and Duane (JoAnn) Lundell. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Adam Lundell, Brandon Lundell, Michael Priebe and Daniel Priebe.

Visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm on Friday, January 24 at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway in Turlock. A funeral will be held at 11am on Saturday January 25, also at Allen Mortuary. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
