Nannajan “Nancy” Baba passed away on Aug. 13. She was born in Urmie, Iran to Baba Ishoo and Pennah Eshya in 1926. At age six, she moved to the city of Hamaden in Iran. She attended the Rabbi Ishak School, where she later returned to teach after she earned a teaching certificate in Kermanshah, Iran. She moved to Tehran in 1956, where she worked for the Ministry of Transportation and coordinated mechanical drawings for bridges and roads in Iran. In 1962 she moved to Chicago where she worked for Consultants and Designers, Corp., a subcontractor for NASA. She worked on various components of Apollo 11. She met and married Peara Baba in 1963, and they moved to Turlock in 1969. She was active in the St. John Assyrian Presbyterian Church and the Assyrian American Civic Club, where she also served as the Women’s Auxiliary president.
She is survived by her sons, Eddie, Albert and John; brother, Levon; sisters, Angel and Janet; grandchildren; cousins; nephews and nieces.
Funeral services and burial were held under the direction of Turlock Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
