LeRoy Choat, 62, of Turlock passed away at home with his family at his side on Friday, Dec. 3. He was born in Geary, Okla. to Otheo and Lula Choat in 1947. LeRoy lived in Linden, Tenn. and Turlock throughout his life. He was a master mechanic and at the end of his career he owned Tom’s Creek Boat Motor Repair in Tennessee. He enjoyed gold panning and was an outdoorsman. He was a master at making moonshine. 
LeRoy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Paula Choat; children, Otheo LeRoy Choat, Jr. of Washington, Karen Sue Navaro of Modesto and Christine Rene Alcantara of Turlock; mother, Lula Choat of South Dakota; siblings, Judy Lee Ogle of Oklahoma, Beverly Carol Tinsely of Tennessee and Donna Kay Koster of South Dakota; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his father, Otheo Lee Choat.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9 at Allen Mortuary. A private burial will be at Turlock Memorial Park.
