Raymond "Leroy" Delbon, of Turlock passed away peacefully on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the age of 79.
Leroy was born to his late parents Ellis and Esther Delbon at Emanuel Hospital, the same hospital his great uncle, August Delbon, was instrumental in starting. Leroy lived his whole life in Turlock. He graduated Turlock High School in 1952, and was later inducted into the U.S. Army, in 1953, serving in the Korean War and in the Signal Corps. After separating from the U.S. Army in 1955, Leroy went on to work for the Stanislaus County Road Department where he retired in 1992, with over 36 years of service.
Leroy is survived by his sister-in-law Judy Delbon of Sonora; his niece Karissa Durbin of Placerville; and his nephew Kent Delbon, also of Sonora.
Leroy loved working on and restoring old cars, as well as building intricate models of the same. Leroy was a fixture at the First Christian Church in Turlock where he faithfully greeted parishioners of the church every Sunday morning for over 40 years. Leroy's infectious smile will be truly missed.
A memorial service for Leroy will take place at the First Christian Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 10.
