Richard Vikjord, 66, of Modesto, passed away at Doctors Medical Center on Nov. 26. He was born in Tulsa, Okla. and moved to California when he was only three years old. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. He married Lorna LeMonds in September 1968 in Bakersfield, Calif.
Richard was a wise, hard-working man with a special ability to build things with wood. He was described as “Like an artist with a piece of wood.” He could build, fix, or restore just about anything. He will also be remembered for his sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and those close to him.
Richard is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lorna; sons, Aaron and Eric, and daughter, Amber, Vikjord, all of Modesto; and one grandchild.
Memorials are encouraged for Community Hospice of Modesto.
Visitation is scheduled for 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Allen Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2, also at Allen Mortuary. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
